Maresca is a seafood restaurant that combines the warmth of the Romagna Riviera with the elegance of contemporary cuisine. Overlooking the Riccione seafront, it reinterprets maritime tradition with style and delicacy.
Challenge
Redesigning Maresca's visual identity after the change in management, transforming it into a tool capable of enhancing the restaurant's heritage and communicating its new direction. The aim was to update the image, freeing it from an outdated aesthetic and making it more recognisable, contemporary and refined, so as to reach today's audience.
Process & Solution
I developed an identity inspired by the classic imagery of Italian seaside resorts, reinterpreted in a contemporary key. The new visual system replaces dated textures and decorative excesses with clean typography and graphic references to 1970/80s marine signage, creating a renewed image that communicates change without betraying its roots.
Research and references The project evokes the atmosphere of the Riviera of yesteryear without slipping into nostalgia or cliché. The research focused on seaside iconography and lettering inspired by the signs of the beach resorts of the 1970/80s, reinterpreted in a contemporary key to maintain a fresh and current aesthetic. Claude Nori's photographs were one of the main visual references. The initial sketches follow this line, seeking a synthesis capable of communicating simplicity, elegance and identity.
